About FirstStop

FirstStop aims:

  • to become the UK’s leading source of independent, clear and direct information and advice on care and housing for older people;
  • to be a sustainable service for the long term, supported equally by charitable funders, Government and commercial organisations;
  • to grow in partnership with local services to provide an accessible service to all older people, their families and carers.

FirstStop Advice Line

The Advice Line opened in July 2008, and is staffed by trained Advisors in each of the four partner organisations. Our Freephone number provides access to the specialist knowledge and experience of all four teams.

FirstStop website

This website will grow to provide a comprehensive source of information for older people, their families and carers. Its local content will gradually increase, and it will also provide a forum for older people to share their experiences of care with others.

FirstStop plans

The Advice Line service is currently being piloted in London and South East England and we aim to achieve national coverage within three years, subject to funding. We hope to start piloting local service delivery arrangements early in 2009.

FirstStop partners

FirstStop is delivered nationally by a partnership of three well known charities and one commercial organisation. We aim to forge associations with other organisations that are committed to ensuring that older people have access to good quality care.
